Today on our 2017 Toyota Corolla, we're going to be test fitting the Rhino-Rack Square Bar Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers DS118B. This is the Rhino-Rack Square Bars along with the 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs and part number DK383, and this is the custom fit kit for the Corolla. The Rhino-Rack Square Bar Roof Rack System is great for carrying accessories on your roof while freeing up space for you and your family in your vehicle. While it does have a square bar design, you can purchase bearings 00:00:25 on the etrailer.com website. That will cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving. Both bars combined have a carrying capacity of 165 pounds, although always double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure it can withstand those weights. At the end, we have these two locking caps here.
Once you install it onto your roof, it's going to be secured to your roof as well. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here. Our next step is going to be installing our leg here onto the other end. Take our bar, flip it upside down here and this is the track that we're going to slide our leg into. The top of our leg, we have this square plate here and that's what's going to slide into the end.
We'll flip it upside down and loosen up this bolt with our included tool. Then we'll wind it up and slide it in place. Next, we'll measure for space between the end here and our leg. Normally we'd have a strip that we place down here, cut it to length and it would stay there to keep the spacing. However for today's purposes, we'll just measure it out for demonstration. We'll tighten down our screw in the center.
We'll next install our fit kit which consists of the rubber footpad and the clamp. The rubber footpad isn't labeled and has an arrow on it, so make sure you're putting it in the proper placing. It also has these three points, they'll line up with our foot so we'll just push that into place. Next, we'll install our clamp. Start by completely taking out the screw here, insert a clamp and reinsert the screw loosely just to hold the clamp in place. Then we can install our bar onto our roof.
Measure it out with our front bar so you get the proper spread. That's going to be from center of the bar to center of the bar. You'll find this measurement in your instructions. With everything measured out now, we can snug up the clamps up to the vehicle. We'll do this on both sides, and then we'll go back and forth giving about five or six turns each time until the roof rack is completely tied to the vehicle. Something to mention about this tightening tool is you'll see how it's curved. As you're tightening it down, it will straighten out. Once it's completely straightened while you're tightening, you know that it's torqued 00:03:03 to its proper specification. Therefore, you don't over or under tighten. Here's our end caps for our bars, and you just push into place. Finally, we'll install our end cap locks to our legs. Now, we're ready to install our accessories and hit the road. There you have it for the Rhino-Rack Square Bar Roof Rack System on our 2017 Toyota Corolla.

I watched the videos, read the instructions and within just a couple hours, my rack was attached, my canoe was loaded and I was out taking a test drive. 2 issues with the instructions. I didn't realize that there were two different size hooks...I did not see it mentioned in either the video or the written instructions. I got it right, but it was purely by chance. The other issue was the rubber pads which were, again, not mentioned. I installed them wrong the first time, but it didn't take me long to see my mistake. Happy with the stability and looks of the rack, and the help I received from Robert during the ordering process.

This rack was easy to assemble and install. I love that it has locks to help prevent theft and tampering. I have a Corolla, so the rack gives me extra storage/transport space, especially for larger items like Christmas trees. It's sturdy but easy to remove if needed. There is a little extra wind noise with it installed, but I assume that's standard for roof racks. It also looks great on my car! Highly recommend this Rhino roof rack!
Great rack but my end caps won’t lock properly. I lock them into the bar but am able to take them off easily

Not 1 issue with the rack. It is pricey but has never moved, shifted or scratched my paint. Great product
Great product and very easy to assemble
Everything is solid and well made. However, the spec sheet we were sent has a different year (2014-same make and model) vehicle from ours(2015). Hopefully this will not affect the performance of the rack. We were able to install it, but wonder if the measurements might have been off for our year vehicle.

The installation instructions for the Rhino Rack Fit Kit start with the 2014 model year. The spec sheet lists this as 14-, indicating it fits 2014 through current model year vehicles.

Very easy to install. Create a perfect fit so I'm able to keep my roof rack installed all season long.
I purchased my Rhino Rack from etrailer about a year ago and cannot be more pleased with the quality of the product or the level of customer service received from etrailer. Both brands have exceeded expectations!
So far everything seems good kinda wish they would have shipped it a little better. One of the cross arm box was open. And also they just left it at the door and nothing was covered up you could tell what everything was in the box. glade it was there when I got home
I liked how fast my item was shipped and received. Also that they kept me informed throughout. The only blooper that I had was that the installation sheet for my car had listed the front bar as the rear bar and the rear bar as the front bar. So it took me a while to figure that out. Once I figured that out they fitted like a charm, look good and are as sturdy as I expected. The 161mm measurement is installed on the rear location of my 19 corolla and the 157 mm measurement goes in the front.
Perfect fit, and great videos to help with the install. I installed a year ago and have had no issues since even with heavy use and taking it through a car wash weekly.

I am happy to hear that you like and use the roof rack system. I just wanted to caution you that Rhino Rack recommends taking off the cross bars when using an automatic car wash for safety.

Instructions are very complicated.
They work well. I used the measurements for my specific car but it wasn't exactly flush with the window. I still managed to get it to feel like a tight fit. I haven't had any issues with shifting or water coming in
